The word “Corona” carries a different connotation with it this year. While the word used to bring to mind America’s favorite pale lager from south of the border, these days it’s more closely associated with a global pandemic. Although Corona beer sales were thought to have dipped at the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak, baking bread at home seemed to jump to an all-time high. If you are one of the people trying to bake amazing bread at home during quarantine, why not help Corona out by baking a loaf of Corona Bread? It’s viral! (Ok, that was bad.)

“Beer Bread” has been a mildly popular recipe for years now. All over Pinterest and other recipe sites you can find tons of different ways to mix beer, flour, sugar, and butter to make delicious loaves. But although these recipes are called “Beer Breads,” most are technically quick breads, and not true breads. Due to their reliance on baking powder/soda instead of yeast to make the bread rise, these tender loaves fall more in the cake family than the bread family.

While these beer-infused quick bread recipes are undoubtably delicious, I wanted to do this beer justice and give it the time and attention it deserved. So, without further ado, here is my recipe for Corona Bread!

This loaf of yeast-fermented bread contains a bottle of Corona Extra, a squeeze of lime juice, and a touch of whole grain wheat flour to give it an unbelievable depth of flavor. I hope you enjoy!
